Indonesian solo exhibition opens at Ocean Tower

KARACHI: The consulate general of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi organised a two-day solo exhibition at Ocean Tower. The exhibition provided an opportunity to the businessmen of both the countries to explore the possibilities of entering new markets with a long-term vision of gaining economic prosperity.

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Younus Muhammad Bashir preformed the ribbon cutting ceremony along with Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi, Hadi Santoso, the consul general of Malaysia, Pakistan Indonesia Business Forum chairman and others.

A large number of stalls comprising Indonesian products, garments, spices, handicrafts, and food items were set up at the exhibition to promote Indonesian exports in general and tourism sector. A documentary, describing tourism and trade facilities was also a part of the exhibition.

The most interesting aspect particularly for children and families, visiting the exhibition, was cultural performances by Indonesian children. During the exhibition many traditional dances were presented like Tanjung Katung and Poco-poco dances that were performed by the Indonesian and Pakistani students.

Hadi Santoso said that the two-day event would focus on promoting Indonesia tourism and would also display Indonesian products. He said that five companies from Indonesia are participating in the event. Several products would be introduced namely agriculture related products, herbal medicine, and fast moving consumer goods.

One company is an Indonesian importer that is interested in Pakistan's leather product while two importers from Karachi also joined the event to introduce confectionery and cosmetics product. Indonesia and Pakistan have greater political relations and that should also reflect in other fields such and economy and tourism, he added.

"Such exhibition will help the businessmen to have a better knowledge about the market. I do hope that such approach also being implemented by our Pakistani brother in Indonesia, this way, I believe the trade will develop equally", said Hadi Santoso. The exhibition productively concluded on Sunday
